ZUGFeRD E-Invoicing API: Integration & IBAN Check | FHC+P
Own AI Product · The Only One with IBAN Fraud Detection

ZUGFeRD E-Invoicing API

Create and verify e-invoices, that also protect your money

Compliance is mandatory. We turn it into protection too: every e-invoice per EN 16931 (ZUGFeRD, Factur-X, XRechnung), validated with the official KoSIT validator, plus an IBAN fraud check that catches manipulated bank details before you pay. For non-technical users and developers alike, built and operated by FHC+P, live at sichere-erechnung.de.

Context

E-invoicing is mandatory, not optional

Since 2025, German companies must be able to receive e-invoices. The obligation to issue them follows in stages through 2028. A PDF sent by email is not an e-invoice. Companies that don't adapt risk rejected invoices, delayed payments, and trouble with the tax office. No XML, no mapping, no coding required, you provide the data as you have it, we turn it into a compliant e-invoice.

More Than Compliance

Active protection for your money

IBAN fraud check

The issuer's IBAN is matched against your supplier history, check digit, country vs. registered address, known fraud accounts. A warning before you pay the wrong account. An endpoint no competitor offers.

EN 16931 / KoSIT-validated

ZUGFeRD 2.x / Factur-X as PDF/A-3 with embedded CII XML, validated against the official KoSIT validator, VAT ID verified live via EU VIES. XRechnung-checkable, fully compliant with §14 UStG.

AI import and 3 ways, no coding

Paste text or an Excel row via AI import, and the AI produces the structured invoice. Plus a classic form or no-code Excel upload for many invoices at once. For developers, a lean REST API; for SaaS vendors, white-label via iframe or API.

Authenticity seal

Outgoing invoices are cryptographically signed (Ed25519) and carry a QR code. Your customer scans it and instantly sees: genuine, unaltered, correct IBAN, protection against invoices faked in your name.

Get paid faster

Every invoice automatically carries a GiroCode (banking app scans, everything pre-filled) and a "pay now" link. Plus receivables management with reminder stages, automatic late-payment interest, and collections handover.

Inbox automation

Connect Outlook/IMAP (read-only), every incoming e-invoice is automatically checked: KoSIT compliance, PDF-vs-XML tampering, duplicates, and IBAN matching. Warns at the point of receipt, earlier than bank-side payment verification.

For everyone who issues invoices

For business owners, developers, and software vendors

No IT needed

You write invoices, not code

Form, AI import, or Excel upload. We handle the format, XML, and compliance. The result is a single file accepted everywhere.

For developers

One request, one finished e-invoice

A lean REST API for accounting, ERP, or your shop, invoice data in, a legally compliant e-invoice out, automatically.

White-label

For SaaS vendors to resell

Embed the invoice form via iframe or API in your own corporate design, or bring the IBAN fraud protection as an API (/v1/check) into your own software.

Integration

How to integrate the e-invoicing API into your IT landscape

Your ERP, shop, or accounting system stays exactly as it is. The API works as an upstream layer: invoice data in, validated e-invoice out. No SDK, no installation, an HTTPS connection is all you need. The typical flow in five steps:

Step 1

Create an API key

Sign up at sichere-erechnung.de and send the key as a Bearer token with every request. That is all the setup there is.

Step 2

Send the invoice data

Your system posts the invoice as JSON to POST /v1/generate: issuer, recipient, line items, tax rates, payment details. The API handles the mapping to the EN 16931 fields.

Step 3

Validate before anything goes out

With ?validate=1 every invoice runs through the official KoSIT validator, and the VAT ID is verified live via EU VIES. Non-compliant means an error message with a field reference, not a silent failure on the recipient side.

Step 4

Get the finished file back

You receive the ZUGFeRD/Factur-X PDF/A-3 with embedded CII XML, or just the XML via /v1/cii. Archive, send, and book it as you always have.

Step 5

Automate incoming invoices

Check incoming invoices with /v1/validate, pull the data out of the PDF with /v1/extract, and match the IBAN against your supplier history with /v1/check before you pay. Or simply connect your mailbox.

Recommendation

Pilot with real documents

Start with a handful of real invoices from your system, review the validation responses, and only then switch over regular operations. Without in-house development, use the Excel upload or the AI import.

Prefer not to build the integration yourself? As an IT service provider we take care of the integration into your existing landscape, from the ERP interface through incoming-invoice checks to an audit-proof archive. Get in touch.

Questions & Answers

FAQ

Have further questions? Feel free to contact us directly via our contact form or by e-mail.

Since when is e-invoicing mandatory in Germany? +

Since January 1, 2025, German companies must be able to receive e-invoices. The obligation to issue them follows in stages through 2028, depending on company size. A PDF sent by email is not an e-invoice.

What exactly does the IBAN fraud check do? +

When checking an incoming invoice, the issuer's IBAN is compared against your supplier history. If it deviates, the check digit is wrong, or the same IBAN suddenly appears for a different supplier, you get a warning before you pay the wrong account, including a blocklist for known fraud IBANs.

Do I need programming skills? +

No. The web form, AI import (paste an Excel row or free text) or no-code Excel upload produce compliant ZUGFeRD invoices without XML, mapping, or coding. Software vendors also get a lean REST API.

What does the ZUGFeRD API cost? +

As a monthly plan from €9/month, or pay-per-use with credits that never expire (from €9). Getting started is free with trial credits. Current pricing and details at sichere-erechnung.de.

How do I integrate the ZUGFeRD API into my ERP or accounting system? +

As an upstream layer, your system stays unchanged: you create an API key, your ERP, shop, or accounting system sends the invoice data as JSON to the REST API, the API validates it against EN 16931 and the KoSIT validator and returns the finished ZUGFeRD/Factur-X PDF/A-3. Typical flow: create key, send data, validate, archive and send the file. We recommend a pilot with real documents before switching over regular operations.

Do I have to replace or reconfigure my ERP system for e-invoicing? +

No. The API takes care of format, mapping, and validation; your existing system only supplies the invoice data it already has. That applies to older or heavily customized systems as well. If you do not want to build an interface at all, use the Excel upload or the AI import without any integration.

How do I check incoming e-invoices automatically? +

Via API (compliance with /v1/validate, data extraction from the PDF with /v1/extract, IBAN matching with /v1/check) or without any coding via the mailbox automation: connect Outlook or IMAP with read-only access, and every incoming e-invoice is checked for KoSIT compliance, manipulation between PDF and XML, duplicates, and deviating IBANs before you pay.
